CHRIS' PHOTO JOURNAL

The Mammaries, 23rd July 08 - Part 2

Where the ground dries out above Long Meadow we found Pygmy Lewisia in bloom.

Not far above is the last cairn.
Ginnie and Lisa are looking contemplative, but in fact they are eating!

Soon we were climbing the shoulder of The Mammaries.

(All the green patches on the far side of North Pass Lake are also flower meadows.)

On the Mammaries we found lots of Tolmiei's Saxifrage.

Here is Lisa in one of her famous photo-taking positions.

She was photographing the Silky Phacelia

The amazing Alpine Harebells were starting to come out everywhere.

Then we came down to the meadows below The Mammaries
Most of them were not yet open, but there were a few patches of lupins

We saw many that were unusual colours.

And we also found a few clumps of paintbrushes.
