Rain was forecast, so I was not too hopeful about the weather.

I had not been this way for nearly a year.
The flower meadows on the far side of North Pass Lake were almost finished.

The false helleibore was turning yellow and flopping over.

But there were still pockets of flowers putting on a good show.
I finally got a decent picture of the Small-flowered Paintbrush.
I was scouting out a new piece of trail between North Pass Lake and Incompetence Creek.

Tolmiei's Saxifrage was still blooming close to the snow.

This is looking back down the creek towards an un-named lake.
(The new trail will run along the right hand side.)

Mountain Fireweed is irresistably photogenic.

Mountain Sorrel also grew by the creek.
The leaves taste just like garden sorrel and make a nice hiking snack.

Then I climbed onto the ridge behind the Sorrel.
(I found a much easier way to the top!)
And I got great views of Incompetence Valley.

Going down on the east side of the ridge there are more striking flower meadows.
