CHRIS' PHOTO JOURNAL

Flying Home
(8th June, 2009)

I was so busy finishing a basement to my new house at the winter place that I was very late getting back to Nuk Tessli this year.
I used the new float plane service at Nimpo Lake, Lakes District Air.

Here is the pilot and operator of the Nimpo branch, Sid Blackwell.

It was a cool, calm morning, but the weather had been very thundery and the air was hazy with smoke.
I checked out the snow level on the Mammary Meadows as we flew by.

Here at last is my lake - the cabins are in the foreground.
You can see a patch of freshly beetle-killed trees to the right.
The silvery trees on the far side of the lake are from the beetle infestation 25 years ago.

A quick look to see if the roofs and chimneys are all on....
(I always do this!)

And I was home.
