The Saddle overlooking the North Pass was gloomy.

Harry is practising carrying his pack (it is padded out with dogfood bags so he gets used to the width)
but Badger is already used to his so he could run free.

The wind was hurricane force and it ws bitterly cold.
I was wearing 3 layers of wool but
I had forgotten my hat so tied my bug shirt round my head like a shawl.

The flowers were disappointing.
10 days ago I was not even wearing a coat and all sorts of things were rushing to bloom.
But now many of the early things were blasted by the last week's bad weather,
and other things were still hibernating.
Only the blossoms snuggled in the rock cracks could survive:
Here is a single Eight-petalled aven with a clump of Payson's Draba.
A lone cushion of Moss Campion had sneaked out a few blossoms
And I saw three tiny Alpine Forgetmenot plants
They were thrashing so much in the wind it was amazing that I was able to get this photo.
But the Roseroot thrives in the most exposed places.
