CHRIS' PHOTO JOURNAL

The Mammaries
23 July, 2009, Part 1

The incredibly hot weather continued as we climbed to the Mammaries

In the foreground are the peculiar Inky Gentians.
These flowers are fully open.

The higher heathers were now at their best.

And the tiny Creeping Sibbaldia was profuse.

There was very little wind and we longed for a cool breeze.

In the wet meadows, the False Hellebore was blooming.

The plant does not look so interesting, but it has beautiful flowers.

The first Purple Daisies  were attracting pollinators.

And the diverse-leaved Cinquefoil was abundant.

Paintbrushes were enjoying the hot weather

And the tiny, strangely-constructed Mitrewort was everywhere.
