CHRIS' PHOTO JOURNAL

The Mammaries
23 July, 2009, Part 2

The incredibly hot weather continued as we climbed to the Mammaries

We managed to find a few Pygmy Lewisia blooming.

As we climbed higher, we at last had a bit of a breeze.

There was very little wind and we longed for a cool breeze.

(Dennis is being pursued by a Horsefly!)

At this elevation, the little Alpine Harebells were everywhere.

We also found a clump or two of Silky Phacelia

At last we reached the top.

Paintbrushes were enjoying the hot weather

On the way down we hiked through the Mammary Meadows.
There was a patch of abundant Mountain Meadow Buttercups.

And the main meadows were just coming into flower.

There were a lot of odd-coloured lupins.

A last look around before going home for a swim.
