CHRIS' PHOTO JOURNAL

Waterfall
24th August, 2009, Part 1

The gorgeous sunrise presaged a cold, gloomy, windy day.

What a contrast in climate to the last time I had come this way just a week ago!

Our lunch stop at Dead Marmot Creek was a garden of flowers,
blooming late as the snow always lies late there.

The purple Mountain Fireweed (also known as River Beauty) loves this kind of environment.
It is mixed with yellow Mountain Arnica and mauve Wandering Fleabanes.

The wind intensified in Incompetence Valley.

But the waterfall was gorgeous.

It has many different cascades

Each one provides a background to different groups of flowers.
